G-Cat Multihulls 36 PowerCat Recreational Boat Dealership

History of G-Cat Multihulls

In 1973, Hans Geissler established a catamaran dealership in St. Petersburg, Florida. Dissatisfied with the design and characteristics of existing catamarans, he began work on the first ‘G-Cat’ prototype in 1975. The basic hull shape with no dagger boards had three cross beams that made its platform stronger. This allowed for the addition of a front trampoline, a first for any production Cat. It underwent many revisions before production of the first 5.0 meter G-Cats began in 1976.

The 16-foot G-Cat was immediately entered in some of the most important multihull regattas and began winning an impressive collection of trophies. It was, and still is, one of the fastest 16-foot catamarans in the world.

In 1981, an 18-foot G-Cat was introduced. Though aimed primarily at the ever-growing rental market, it also included a full race version. Then, in 1989, the G-Force 21-foot was introduced with extra power generated from the increased sail area. Other design versions included a 44-foot luxury foldable cruising trimaran, a 36-foot sailing catamaran, and a 21-foot PowerCat. While in production in St. Petersburg, Florida, Hans built over 2000 sailboats.

Now in headquartered in Dade City, G-Cat continues this tradition of innovation with the development of the sporty PowerCat. This PowerCat is the perfect platform for cruising enthusiasts seeking a consistently smooth ride.
